Big South Fork Adventures offers two, half day, 10:00am and 2:00pm trips, Blue Heron (Put In) - Yamacraw (Takeout, 2.5hrs & 5miles) or Yamacraw (Put In) - Alum Ford (Takeout, 3.5hrs- 7.5miles) canoe/kayak rental floats The Blue Heron float will have moving water and the Yamacraw float water flow is minimal. Both river sections are local (no longer a secret) float favorites, for fisherman, swimmers and floaters. This trip if dotted with house sized boulders, canopy of trees, Class I and II, Joel Shoals, rapids and runs alongside the abandoned Kentucky and Tennessee Railway rail line. The Blue Heron to Alum float contains remanences of the bustling coal mining days with historic K&T bridge at Yamacraw and the bridge pillars at the abandoned coal mine town of Worley.
